Sam Smith lands at number one in U.K. albums chart

Sam Smith’s comeback album The Thrill Of It All has soared to the top of the U.K. albums chart.
The long-awaited follow-up to his 2014 smash hit In the Lonely Hour, has trounced its competition to top Friday’s (10Nov17) rundown.
A delighted Sam told OfficialCharts.com, “My heart is so full and happy with this news. Thank you to every single person who has got The Thrill Of It All – this is a dream come true for me, thank you.”
Sam’s chart return forces the new Roy Orbison album, A Love So Beautiful, to settle for second place. The record is a collection of the late rocker’s best-known songs re-imagined by Britain’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Last week’s (03Nov17) number one, Michael Ball and Alfie Boe’s Together Again, falls to three, Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (divide) reenters the top five at four, and Pink’s Beautiful Trauma holds on to fifth place.
There’s no change at the top of the singles chart, as Camila Cabello’s infectious Latin hit Havana racks up a second week at number one.
Post Malone and 21 Savage’s Rockstar remains at number two, while Sam Smith’s Too Good at Goodbyes climbs to three after the release of his new album.
