Sam Smith snags U.S. number one

British pop star Sam Smith has earned his first number one on the U.S. albums chart with his comeback release The Thrill Of It All.
The singer shifted 237,000 equivalent album units in his opening week, helping him score a trans-Atlantic double after hitting number one in the U.K. on Friday (10Nov17).
The Thrill of It All is Smith’s sophomore album, following his critically-acclaimed In the Lonely Hour, which previously peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 back in 2014.
Rockers Maroon 5 enter in second place on the new countdown with Red Pill Blues, ahead of Chris Brown’s Heartbreak on a Full Moon, which sits at three.
Country star Blake Shelton debuts in fourth position with Texoma Shore, as rappers 21 Savage, Offset, and Metro Boomin’s Without Warning collaborative album falls one spot to five.
