Saw VI finally secures release in Spain

The sixth installment of the popular franchise was slapped with an X rating by Spanish film censors last year (09), meaning it could only be shown in theatres which allowed porn.

Its release in Spain was postponed and Saw VI’s producers went back to the cutting room to re-edit the release.

They have now adhered to the rules set out by officials at the film institute, a unit of the culture ministry, who demanded the removal of virtually all scenes featuring what they deemed as extreme violence.

The movie has been reclassified with a “not under 18” certificate, only banning people under the age of 18 from seeing Saw VI at the cinema, and it will now open across the country on 8 October (10).

Saw VI was released in the U.S. and many other parts of the world last year (09). The seventh installment of the horror series, Saw VII, is set to hit U.S. theatres in 3D on 29 October (10).
