Selena Quintanilla’s make-up line sells out

Fans of late Latin superstar Selena Quintanilla were left disappointed on Saturday (01Oct16) after the singer’s new M.A.C. make-up line sold out instantly.
Last year (15), her sister Suzette teamed up with M.A.C. Cosmetics chiefs to make one of Selena’s fashion dreams come true with a beauty collection named in her honour.
The new line, featuring lipstick shades named after Selena’s hits, including Dreaming of You and Amor Prohibido, was unveiled at a special event in Selena’s hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas on Friday (30Sep16), and the products were made available for purchase exclusively on M.A.C.’s website on Saturday.
However, the huge demand for the make-up items clearly caught M.A.C. officials off-guard, as the collection sold out just hours after the launch.
Some unlucky fans took to social media to vent their frustrations after encountering error messages online during their purchase attempts, before learning the products had all been snapped up.
A company representative has since promised customers they will be restocking soon, with items also going on sale online with other U.S. retailers from Monday (03Oct16).
A statement issued on M.A.C.’s Twitter page late on Saturday read: “Due to the passion and overwhelming excitement from Selena’s fans, currently #MACSelena is sold out on Maccosmetics.com. We are working to restock the collection… Thank you for your passion and your patience. Please stay tuned for more details.”
The Tejano singer was just 23 when she was shot and killed by Yolanda Saldivar, the president of her fan club, in 1995.
