Sha Na Na founding member Dennis Greene dies at 66

SHA NA NA founding member DENNIS GREENE has died at the age of 66.
The singer passed away on Saturday (05Sep15) in Dayton, Ohio after a brief illness.
Greene founded the a cappella group as a student at Columbia University and he and his bandmates went on to find mainstream success after performing at the Woodstock music festival in 1969.
The group opened for acts like The Grateful Dead, The Mothers of Invention and The Kinks and they appeared in classic movie Grease as Johnny Casino and the Gamblers.
The bandmates even had a syndicated TV show in the late 1970s, which featured guests Chubby Checker, the Ramones and Billy Crystal.
Greene left the group to pursue a career in law and went on to become the vice president of Columbia Pictures. He also served as a law professor at the University of Dayton in Ohio.
