Shawty Lo laid to rest after final strip club visit

Rapper Shawty Lo paid one final posthumous visit to his favourite strip club on Friday (30Sep16) as his casket was driven to Atlanta, Georgia’s Blue Flame Lounge.
The former D4L star, real name Carlos Walker, was killed on 21 September (16) when he lost control of his white Audi and crashed over a guardrail on a highway in Atlanta, hours after enjoying a night out at the men’s club.
The 40-year-old was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Coroners listed his cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.
Two female passengers were hospitalised and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
On Friday, a public viewing was held for the rapper at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, before the casket was driven around Atlanta, making a stop at the Blue Flame Lounge, where fans and fellow patrons turned out to pay their respects and observed a moment of silence.
A funeral followed on Saturday (01Oct16), when the father of 11 was laid to rest after a service at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church.
The hip-hop star’s peers will also honour Walker’s legacy at a tribute concert on 7 October (16), which will be held as part of the annual A3C festival, with Rick Ross, Royce da 5’9, and the surviving members of D4L among the performers set to take the stage.
