Sheen thought Lorre’s jibe was ‘funny’

Network bosses at CBS suspended filming on the sitcom at the end of January (11) to allow Sheen time to undergo rehab treatment after he hit the headlines with a series of raucous off-screen antics.

The actor stunned fans on Monday (14Feb11) when he phoned into a sports talk U.S. radio show to reveal he was ready and willing to work – and blamed CBS executives for putting the cast and crew of the comedy on “forced hiatus”.

Lorre responded to the outburst by airing his grievances about the star’s alleged drinking, drug taking and sexual exploits in a message which flashed up during the end credits of Monday night’s episode.

Part of the message read: “I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t do drugs. I don’t have crazy, reckless sex with strangers. If Charlie Sheen outlives me, I’m gonna be really p**sed.”

But Sheen’s manager, Mark Burg, insists the star has taken Lorre’s comments in his stride.

Burg tells the New York Daily News, “Charlie… thought it was funny. The direct quote was, ‘That’s great. There’s not a chance he outlives me!'”

Sheen hit the headlines last month (Jan11) after a wild night of partying with porn stars and pals at his Hollywood home ended with a hospital visit. The actor was treated for a hernia and subsequently signed up for an at-home rehab stint.
