Aliens star Sigourney Weaver is making another surprise appearance in cosy British drama Doc Martin.

The actress stunned fans of the show, which is set in the sleepy Cornish seaside village of Portwenn, England, when she made a guest appearance on the show two years ago.

Sigourney popped up in an episode in 2015 starring as a grumpy American tourist, Beth Traywick, who pays a visit to the village which stars British actor Martin Clunes.

In pictures obtained by Daily Mail Online, the 67-year-old is seen on the set of the eighth season of the ITV1 show dressed in cliched American tourist attire of a bucket hat and anorak, with a camera dangling around her neck.

The three-time Oscar nominee also filmed a scene outside a chemist on the village’s high street, clutching a notebook and pen, the actress was dressed in a yellow coat, over a denim shirt and jeans.
In an interview last year (16) the show’s lead actor Martin expressed his hope that the actress would return for another cameo.

Sigourney Weaver wants to come back and physically fight me in a pub! She’s doing three Avatar films at once, so it’s if we can make it work with her schedule,” he told What’s on TV.

The actress’ appearance may have come as a surprise to fans, but there’s a very simple explanation. Sigourney has remained close friends with Selina Cadell, who plays pharmacist Mrs Tishell in the show, after the pair met as a drama students back in the ’70s.

And she’s not the only big star enamored with the show. Martin revealed that Hollywood tough guy Harvey Keitel is also keen to make an appearance.
