Actor Simon Pegg feared he was about to witness Tom Cruise’s death when the Hollywood superstar insisted on performing a hair-raising stunt for the new Mission: Impossible movie.
The Top Gun star was photographed last year (14) clinging on to the side of an Airbus A400M military plane in dramatic scenes for the upcoming fifth installment in the franchise, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
The Shaun of the Dead actor, who co-stars in the film, was watching from the ground as Cruise shot the daring stunt, and he was terrified something would go wrong and he would be an eye-witness to Cruise’s grisly death.
Pegg tells U.K. talk show host Graham Norton, “He is obsessive about giving the audience a genuine experience. He did a stunt in the movie where he was on the side of an A400 airplane when it took off, he had to wear special lenses so his eyes weren’t blown out and he did it – it was incredible and mind blowing. Watching it I thought, ‘He could die and I’m about to watch Tom Cruise splat on the runway.'”
