Sir Michael Caine predicted British riots in Harry Brown

The Oscar winner dealt with the theme of growing tension and social unrest in his native Britain in 2009 movie Harry Brown, and during promotional duties for the film, he insisted it reflected life in many parts of the U.K.

When rioting broke out in cities including London, Manchester and Birmingham in August last year (11), Caine was irritated no one had taken his warnings seriously.

He tells British magazine Live, “I knew the riots would happen. I made a movie three years ago and told you they were coming, and you didn’t listen. You’ve got to go and talk to the people and listen to their frustrations… I think these guys need a second chance, a third chance and they didn’t get it. Now I hope we’ve listened.”
