Solange tops U.S. albums chart

R&B star Solange has scored her first U.S. number one with A Seat at the Table.
Beyonce’s little sister beats folk rockers Bon Iver to the coveted Billboard 200 title by just 1,000 units. The critically-acclaimed A Seat at the Table, the follow-up to 2012’s True, debuts with 72,000 equivalent album sales, ahead of Bon Iver’s 22, A Million, which takes second place.
The achievement makes Beyonce and Solange one of few pairs of siblings who have topped the U.S. albums chart with their own solo efforts, while they are only the second set of siblings to do so in the same calendar year, as Beyonce’s Lemonade smash hit the number one spot in April (16). Only Janet and Michael Jackson can boast the same honour, which they achieved in 2001 with their respective projects All For You and Invincible.
Meanwhile, back in this week’s countdown, Drake slips to three with Views, and the Suicide Squad soundtrack and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ The Getaway round out the new top five in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
