Sorkin signs on to pen Jackman’s Houdini musical

Elfman tells EW.com he has been writing music for the show for the past two years and last week (ends29Oct10), he met with Sorkin and director Jack O’Brien to discuss the ambitious project.

He says, “Right now Aaron Sorkin is writing… and we all have high hopes that Aaron’s going to come through and do some good stuff.”

A first reading of the script is reportedly scheduled for January (11) and Elfman suggests the show might open in early 2012.

He adds, “I know that there are so many things that need to still happen, and reasons why it may or may not. I just try to take an attitude of, ‘If it happens, great, and if it doesn’t, I’ll have learned what it’s like working on a Broadway musical.'”
