Spice Girls gift Emma Bunton with diamond ring

Emma Bunton’s Spice Girls bandmates treated her to a flashy diamond ring for her 40th birthday.
The British singer reached the milestone on 21 January (16) and celebrated with a lunch for family and friends followed by a wild night out with her friends, including former bandmate Melanie Chisholm, Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh and All Saints singer Nicole Appleton.
She was also surprised by a video filled with birthday messages from all her friends and family, with her partner Jade Jones buying her an engraved watch and her Spice Girls bandmates treating her with a diamond ring.
“I’m too scared to wear it!” Emma tells Britain’s Fabulous magazine. “It’s gorgeous, so beautiful. I did get really, really spoiled this year!”
She was apprehensive heading into her 40s, not least because her mother seemed so settled when she reached the age.
“I had mixed emotions about it because my 30s were so magical – that’s when I had my children, and I’d say that were the best years for me,” she adds. “So hitting 40 felt quite daunting, but actually I feel empowered. I’ve got great friends around me, my gorgeous boys are growing up, I’ve got Jade, and my parents are brilliant. I’m in a good place and I feel lucky about it. It feels like a new chapter.
“I remember when my mum was 40 and it felt really old! And I also thought: ‘Gosh, she knows everything…’ And of course I know now that she didn’t. You get to 40 and you’re still learning every day.”
During her bash, Emma realised she no longer has the stamina to party like she used to and called it a night by curling “up on the sofa and everyone else carried on”.
Emma and Jade have two sons named Beau and Tate.
