Spider-Man producers hit with safety violations

Regulators have found three violations of workplace safety standards following an indepth investigation into the musical, which is only just over a week away from an official launch.

Officials at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued the citations on Friday (04Mar11) for separate incidents, which could result in proposed fines of over $12,000 (GBP8,000).

Four castmembers have been left seriously injured after accidents in rehearsals and preview performances.

One stuntman is still recovering after falling from the stage, fracturing his skull and smashing vertebrae in his back.

It is not known if the violations will damage the production, or prompt more delays.

U2 rock star Bono, who composed the score for the musical, reportedly visited the show earlier this week (beg28Feb11) to make sure everything was ready for opening night on 15 March (11).
