Spielberg holding Lincoln movie until after election

The legendary director has hired Daniel Day-Lewis to play the 16th U.S. president, who was assassinated in 1865, in Lincoln, alongside Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Filming is due to kick off in Virginia this autumn (11), but Spielberg has now revealed fans won’t be able to see the movie until after America goes to the polls for the 2012 presidential election next November (12).

He tells the Orlando Sentinel, “The movie will be purposely coming out after next year’s election. I didn’t want it to become political fodder.”
