Spike Lee appears in Bernie Sanders presidential advert

Moviemaker Spike Lee has officially endorsed U.S. Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders in a radio advertisement.
The Do The Right Thing director previously admitted he was “intrigued” by Bernie’s campaign to become the Democratic Party’s standard bearer in November’s (16) presidential election, and he has now offered him his full support.
In the campaign commercial, which aired ahead of South Carolina’s Democratic primary election on Tuesday (23Feb16), the filmmaker referenced his famous movie by saying the 74-year-old politician would “do the right thing” if elected as U.S. leader.
“Wake up! Wake up, South Carolina!” he says in the advert, “This is your dude, Spike Lee. And you know that I know that you know that the system is rigged!
“And for too long we’ve given our votes to corporate puppets. Sold the okie-doke. Ninety-nine per cent of Americans were hurt by the Great Recession of 2008, and many are still recovering.
“That’s why I am officially endorsing my brother, Bernie Sanders. When Bernie gets into the White House, he will do the right thing!”
The radio recording is not Spike’s first high-profile foray into political campaigning. In February 2008 he gave his endorsement to Barack Obama, who was then running against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party’s nomination, just as Bernie is.
