Spotlight On…The “Kill Bill Vol. 1” DVD Clips and Highlights


Because you can never see part two without seeing part one, ever so conveniently timed with the release of Kill Bill Vol. 2 in theaters Friday is this week’s DVD release of Kill Bill Vol. 1, the first half of director Quentin Tarantino‘s slice-and-dice martial arts epic following a wronged woman’s quest for justice at any cost. Below, check out The Bride (Uma Thurman) as she slashes her way through her foes in five clips from the movie, plus hear how Thurman and director Quentin Tarantino prepared for their tale of revenge.

“Comatose”
That’s no nurse! That’s Bill’s deadly, merciless Viper assassin Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah), otherwise known as California Mountain Snake. In this cool, split-screen scene, Elle’s about to inject her own brand of revenge on the hapless, comatose Bride (Uma Thurman).

At Tokyo’s House of Blue Leaves nightclub, The Bride faces down her nemesis and now yakuza boss, Cottonmouth, aka O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu). But before their final showdown, The Bride must first cut her way through–literally–hundreds of masked, black-clad martial arts soldiers known as as the The Crazy 88’s.

Swordfighting with the Crazy 88’s was one thing, but The Bride also must take down O-Ren’s mace-swinging private bodyguard Gogo Yubari (Chiaki Kuriyama), a teenage killing machine whose innocent face and schoolgirl outfit hide a truly nasty disposition.

Vernita Green, otherwise known as Copperhead (Vivica A. Fox), is the second on The Bride’s hit list of Bill’s Deadly Viper Squad assassins. Though she now lives a normal life as a mother of a four-year-old daughter living in Pasadena, Vernita is about to find out that her past has returned to hunt her down.
