The latest Star Wars blockbuster landed the second biggest preview numbers in North American box office history on Thursday night (14Dec17) when select fans checked out early screenings.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hauled in $45 million in just hours as devotees, who queued to get preview passes, flooded cinemas, according to Deadline.

Disney bosses have yet to confirm the estimate, but if it stands the Star Wars franchise will rank one and two among the biggest previews.

The Force Awakens landed the best preview night of all-time with $57 million in 2015, and until Thursday, 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was in second place with $43.5 million.
