Stormzy funds student’s Harvard education

British rapper Stormzy donated $15,500 (£12,000) to fund a fellow Londoner’s studies at America’s prestigious Harvard university.
Fiona Asiedu set up a crowdfunding account with the aim of raising the $15,500 she needed to study a Masters in Human Development and Psychology at Harvard Graduate School of Education.
The student’s friend shared her appeal on Twitter with the aim of getting the 23-year-old grime star to promote it to his 695,000 followers.
Not only did he share the post, but he donated $11,600 (£9,000), taking Fiona, a student at England’s prestigious Oxford University, past her target.
The donation was made under Stormzy’s real name, Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Junior, his PR confirmed to the Irish Independent.
The total cost of Fiona’s nine months at Harvard is $76,180 (£59,000), but she has received an external scholarship and financial aid from the U.S. university’s psychology department.
Fiona has now upped her crowdfunding target to $18,000 (£14,000) to help her pay for a return flight back from the U.S. to enable her to attend her Oxford University graduation.
