Eat, Pray, Love
Starring: Julia Roberts, James Franco and Javier Bardem
Directed by: Ryan Murphy
Opens August 13, 2010
Based on the beloved memoir of the same name, Eat, Pray, Love tells the story of Elizabeth Gilbert (Roberts), a newly single woman trying to make sense of her life following a nasty divorce. She sets out on a globetrotting trek that opens her up to the joys the world offers — including food in Italy, prayer in India and, quite possibly, love in Bali.
What We Think: It’s only right that female moviegoers have some decent options this summer, and director Murphy (TV’s Glee) no doubt did justice to a book that many women consider Bible-like — but guys, beware: This is as chick-flick-y as it gets; grant your wife or girlfriend a tagalong to ANY other movie!
Cool to Know: Gilbert’s follow-up, Committed — which was released in January — may serve as the foundation for the sequel, should Love strike box office gold, as expected.
