A team of mercenaries (Stallone, Statham, Li, et al.) is sent on a mission to overthrow a Latin American dictator. Soon after the mission begins, however, the gang learns that things are not quite as they seem and in fact there is a traitor among them. Cue the ‘twist’ music.
What We Think: An almost endless lineup of the genre’s heavy hitters and random, well, expendables (Lundgren? MMA champ Randy Couture? NFL-er Terry Crews? WTF!), coupled with a behind-the-camera Stallone? Expendables will contend for the title of Most Brainless Escapism of the Summer — and that’s got us excited.
Cool to Know: Expendables features a scene that’ll be a wet dream come true for fans of ‘80s and ‘90s action movies: a three-headed faceoff between Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger! Or a bitter meeting about that failed Planet Hollywood venture.
