Susan Sarandon given keys to Colombian city

Susan Sarandon has been given the key to the Colombian city of Cartagena.
The 69-year-old was the guest of honour at the Cartagena International Cinema Festival this weekend (04-06Mar16), when the actress was awarded for her outstanding contribution to cinema.
“I now have the keys to the city of Cartagena de Indias,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her big moment. “Going out now to see what doors they open.”
A collection of her movies, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Thelma & Louise and Dead Man Walking, were also screened at the film festival, which closes on Monday (07Mar16).
She was later spotted walking through the city with her film director son Jack Robbins, and the pair was all dressed up, suggesting they had been out celebrating her special honour. Wearing an off-the-shoulder white dress, Susan walked arm-in-arm with her son and was able to go incognito during their night-time stroll.
The news of the honour emerges just weeks after she sparked controversy over her red carpet style.
Outspoken British journalist and TV presenter Piers Morgan slammed Susan for wearing a white suit with her black bra on show at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January (16), when she was a presenter for the show’s In Memoriam segment.
He shared a snap of her outfit online and took to Twitter to rant, “Would Susan Sarandon wear this to a funeral? No. It was thus horribly inappropriate for an In Memoriam tribute.”
Jack promptly leaped to the defence of his mother, hitting back, “She’s a beautiful woman. If Piers Morgan wants to make fun of my mother and focus his energy on that, then power to him. Aren’t there a million other things he could be preoccupied with than my mum’s breasts?”
Susan, 69, also brushed off the unnecessary furore. She later said of her outfit choice, “It didn’t occur to me that it was going to be such a big deal. Everyone’s always wearing dresses where they’re hanging out all over the place.”
