Swedish star to play young Kenneth Branagh in new Wallander series

Swedish actor Adam Palsson has signed on to play the young Kenneth Branagh in a new Netflix take on Henning Mankell’s Wallander novels.
Branagh portrayed the tortured Scandinavian detective on TV between 2008 to 2016, and now The Bridge star Palsson is taking the character back in time to play him as a younger man.
Argo star Richard Dillane and Black Mirror’s Leanne Best will join him for the new series, which will be directed by Ole Endresen and Jens Jonsson, according to Deadline.
“I couldn’t be more honoured and thrilled to have the opportunity to play the young Kurt Wallander, and to explore the defining events in the life of this complex, driven protagonist, created by the brilliant Henning Mankell,” Palsson says. “With a terrific cast and creative team, I have every confidence that our new version will resonate both in Sweden and with audiences worldwide.”
