Sylvester Stallone backs the underdog in big fight

Sylvester Stallone will be betting on Conor McGregor to knock out Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in August’s (17) big fight.

The movie star, who is a boxing fanatic, claims the UFC tough guy has what it takes to be a real-life Rocky, and has little doubt unretired Floyd “will get hurt” when the two fighters meet in the ring on 26 August (17).

Sly, who is often ring side at the biggest fights, is a minority owner of the UFC, and he’s rooting for the Irishman.

“I always have the underdog,” he tells TMZ. “He’s (McGregor) a real-life Rocky. Then again, I live my life in fantasy.”

The big fight was announced on Wednesday (14Jun17), when the undefeated boxer declared he was officially out of retirement so he could face off with mixed martial arts star McGregor.

Floyd, who bowed out of the sport in 2015 after his 49th consecutive win, shared a poster advertising the big bout in Las Vegas on Instagram, and simply captioned it, “IT’S OFFICIAL!!!”

McGregor, who recently became a first-time father, also posted about the news on his page, and declared, “THE FIGHT IS ON”.

UFC boss Dana White has since told TMZ the fight will be a 12-round boxing match at the T-Mobile Arena, with both men weighing in at 154 pounds (69.9 kilograms).
