Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch is set to board director Peter Berg’s upcoming Battleship movie.
Kitsch will play Hopper, the film’s lead role.
The actor — whose big-screen career is starting to take off — and Berg are no strangers: They’ve worked alongside each other frequently on the beloved football series.

Battleship, based on the board game of the same name, will hit theaters in May 2012.
