Taymor to remain in charge of Spider-Man musical

A recent report in the New York Post suggested bosses were looking for another creative mind to help Taymor helm Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, which has been plagued by delays, on-set accidents and negative reviews.

The show’s creators were said to have been eyeing The Boy From Oz director Phil McKinley to help get the controversial show back on track.

But producers have denied the speculation, insisting Taymor will remain in charge as the production’s sole director.

A statement from spokesman Rick Miramontez reads, “There is no truth to the rumor of a co-director. The production has not brought anyone on and the original creative team remains firmly in place, with Julie Taymor at the helm.”
