The ’10’ List

1. Star Nicole Kidman, for subtly dissing her ex, Tom CruiseKidman congratulated Katie Holmes, who gave birth to daughter Suri Tuesday–but made no mention of baby daddy Cruise. In a statement released through her publicist, Kidman said, “I hope both mother and baby are doing well.” Burn.

2. Director Kevin Smith, for going back to his roots following his sappy debacle of a film, Jersey GirlClerks 2 (view trailer), which reunites most of the cast of the original film, hits theaters August 18.

3. Movie hunk Matthew McConaughey, for real-life heroics. McConaughey recently spotted some kids in Sherman Oaks, California covering a frightened cat with hairspray and trying to light it on fire. He leaped out of his car, snatched the cat and, after shouting at the gang, took the pet to an animal refuge.

4. Former Dawson’s Creek cutie Katie Holmes, for dropping Suri when she did. Now we don’t have to put up with the impossible mission of Tom Cruise promoting Mission: Impossible 3 for the next three weeks.

5. Paramount Pictures, for reviving the much-beloved Star Trek franchise. The as-yet-untitled Star Trek feature, the 11th since 1979, is aiming for a fall 2008 release and will be directed by Mission: Impossible 3 helmer J.J. Abrams.

6. Filmmaker Steven Spielberg, for wanting aliens to phone home. The E.T. director has donated $350,000 to America’s Planetary Society to fund a new telescope, which will be used to detect signal-carrying light in a bid to discover extra terrestrial messages.

7. eBay, for the ultimate deal. The Internet auction site is getting its own ABC reality series, tentatively titled Make It Happen, which will feature families who place their “hidden treasures” for sale on eBay, then use the proceeds to pursue their dreams. The show will reportedly make its debut this summer.

8. TV writer Jack Bunick, for standing up for himself. Bunick is suing Jennifer Lopez, Viacom, CBS and UPN over the Jan. 11 broadcast of South Beach, which J.Lo executive produces, for copyright infringement. He alleges the show improperly used his really bad script for the equally dire two-hour season premiere entitled “Pilot/I’m Not Your Baby.” It’s the principle of the thing.

9. Lord of the Rings star Ian McKellen, for calling out Wikipedia.com and its frequently erroneous content. McKellen’s upset the Internet encyclopedia Web site features an inaccurate profile of his life and has demanded it be corrected. Note to McKellen: The site’s tag line is, “Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.”

10. Little Lindsay Lohan, for not wanting to be Tara ReidLohan is turning to the Jewish mysticism of the Kabbalah in an effort to break away from her reputation as a wild child.
