1. Chloe Sevigny, for giving tabloids the credit they sometimes deserve. “Tabloids. They’re horrible, but they’re really addictive,” she tells Rolling Stone magazine. “And I believe that almost all of it is true. Sadly. Everything that I’ve read that has to do with anyone I’ve ever known has been pretty spot on.”

2. California’s State Labor Commissioner, for shutting down Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in California’s Santa Ynez ValleyJackson, who has been living with his three children in Bahrain since July, was ordered to shut down the 2,800-acre estate Thursday and fined $169,000 after failing to pay his employees or renew their insurance policies.

3. Julia Stiles, for not compromising herself. “Today, pop culture is full of images of young women who are very sexual and provocative, but they’re not the ones in control of their image–they’re just put out there by their handlers for public consumption,” The Omen star said. “It’s not even so much a feminist issue for me; it’s more of an artistic issue–it’s an empty product.”

4. Sean Young, for entertaining us with new controversy. Young created a ruckus when she crashed the Vanity Fair Oscar party by sneaking past security during the excitement of Jennifer Aniston‘s arrival. Once inside, Young was apprehended and thrown out the back door.

5. Jessica Alba, for taking a tough stance with Playboy publishers. Alba threatened legal action after Playboy bosses put her on the cover of the latest issue, claiming they implied she was naked inside.

6. Jennifer Garner, for her witty comeback at Sunday night’s Oscar ceremony. Garner, who skidded after she stepped on the lining of her Michael Kors gown while heading toward the podium to present an award, made a crack about performing her own stunts.

7. The Dixie Chicks, for still fighting President George W. Bush. Singer Natalie Maines has penned a new tune, “Not Ready to Make Nice,” which addresses the controversy surrounding her criticism of Bush at concert comments in London in 2003. The provocative track will appear on the Dixie Chicks’ upcoming album Taking the Long Way Home.

8. Madonna, for vowing to quit acting. The pop icon said she fears her terrible acting reputation will condemn any film. “Making movies is such an effort,” she said. “And to do that over and over again, with the possibility that I am going to get the (bleep) kicked out of me–and they really enjoy doing it–I mean, it doesn’t make sense.”

9. Former Dirrty girl Christina Aguilera, for cleaning up her act. The singer is planning her pop comeback but warns she won’t be returning to her raunchy ways. “There’s still scope for the wild Christina in me. I can still be a bit naughty, but not as much.”

10. Jailed rapper Lil’ Kim, for taking her punishment like a pro. Lil’ Kim, who is serving a year and a day for lying to a federal grand jury regarding a shooting outside a New York radio station, wrote a letter to her fans about the trauma of being locked up at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia. “No matter how good I am in here, this is no place for women to be–or anyone for that matter. It has its trying times and stressful moments–it’s very unsanitary–and can be very depressing, especially around the holidays.”
