The ’10’ List: Hollywood’s Weekly Buzz

1. Barbara Walters, for callously tossing The View co-host Star Jones Reynolds to the curb! You’ve heard the story: Star quits on the air, Barbara feels betrayed, Star says she was sacked, Barbara says, ‘indeed.’ Ouch. But Barbara wins this Star war. It didn’t irritate us that Star lost all that weight, but it bugged us when she refused to say how exactly. And we thought it was tacky that she plugged companies on the air in exchange for freebies for her 2004 wedding to Al Reynolds. That’s what blogs are for.

2. Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson, for topping the week’s asinine announcements: He has officially left the band. That the Backstreet Boys still exist is a more noteworthy headline. “It was a tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order to move on with the next chapter of my life,” Richardson said.

3. Candy and Tori Spelling, for creating a soap opera even deceased patriarch and legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling couldn’t have conjured up. Candy released a statement this week accusing Tori of causing a media circus around Aaron’s death. “We are deeply saddened that, during our time of loss and grief, we are forced to respond to the media frenzy caused by the mean-spirited and surprising comments made by Tori to the press, just two days after the passing of Aaron.” Donna Martin dealt with the death of papa Dr. Martin way more gracefully.

4. Lindsay Lohan, for revealing to the world where she goes to hide out from the world. Lindsay, who turns 20 Sunday, told Harper’s Bazaar she’s looking to celebrate her birthday away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi. “I’m going to go away, out of the country,” she told the magazine’s July issue. “They won’t find me. No one can get a picture of you on Turks and Caicos [Islands]. I go there with my family, and it’s the perfect place to go with a guy.”

5. Ashlee Simpson, for turning down a multi-million dollar offer to pose for Playboy. The 21-year-old was offered $4 million for the deed but decided to not to bare all for the publication. Still, we know she’d do it in a heartbeat–if big sis Jessica does it first.

6. Suri Cruise, for being a poor monetary investment for parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Tom and Katie refused to sell pictures of their new daughter after the photos failed to fetch more than $3 million—that’s one million short of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt’s $4 million bounty for the cover of People magazine in a deal brokered by Wire Image.

7. Pink, for confusing a sold-out crowd at a Los Angeles concert by dedicating the song “Don’t Let Me Get Me” to beleaguered pop star Britney Spears. Pink star told the audience she had always loved Britney and wanted everyone to send her some “good energy and love because she could use it right now.” Apparently, concertgoers weren’t sure if Pink was being serious or sarcastic: Half the audience cheered, while the other half broke out in laughter. Guess we’ll never know.

8. Britney Spears, for leaving the star-studded confines of Malibu for her native Louisiana. According to Kentwood, Louisiana Mayor Harold Smith, Britney is planning to spend a reported $200,000 to add several rooms to mom Lynne’s house. “She wants to come home,” Mayor Smith told Web site The Scoop. “She’s building more rooms for her growing family. She wants a nursery and some kids’ rooms.” And she’ll probably blend in driving a truck with a baby on her lap, too.

9. Tommy Lee, for showing Josh Duhamel what happens when you put a bad boy rocker in a corner. The Motley Crue drummer was in a bathroom cubicle at L.A. hotspot Bella when Josh banged on the door and urged the occupant to hurry up. Onlookers claim Tommy marched out of the cubicle and initiated a pushing match, which reportedly left Josh sprawled on the floor. Tommy‘s publicist confirmed the spat to the New York Daily News, but denied any physical violence, adding, “Tommy remained and finished his dinner” while Josh was evicted.

10. Paris Hilton, for being worried about the repercussions of a fictional video. Paris was apparently worried paparazzi would use photos of her frolicking on the beach while filming her music video “Stars Are Blind” to spread untrue rumors about her. “It was kind of embarrassing, making out with some guy on the beach,” she told MTV.com. “And I’m worrying that (paparazzi) are going to use the pictures and make up some lie when it’s really just a music video, so that was kind of uncomfortable.”
