Parks made headlines almost 50 years ago when she challenged Alabama’s segregation laws and refused to give up her seat on a bus for a white man. She died in Detroit last week of natural causes. At a Detroit concert last week, Bono dedicated “One” and “Pride (In the Name of Love)” to Parks, adding, “Because of her quiet dignity and strength, America became a better, changed country. This song is dedicated to the mother of American civil rights movement Rosa Parks.” We get shivers just thinking about it.
