The 2006 Billboard Music Awards airs tonight at 8/7c on FOX
The inevitable ‘best-of 2006’ lists will start rolling in this month on websites and in magazines across the globe, and tonight Billboard gets to toss in its two cents. Canadian soft rockers Nickelback, self-proclaimed music royalty of something or other T.I., Rascal Flatts, and Mary J. Blige all tie for the lead with nominations in five different categories.
Scheduled to perform are Janet Jackson, Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Ludacris featuring Pharrell and Young Jeezy, and Idol-made Carrie Underwood.
While this year’s American Music Award show, which aired weeks ago, concentrated heavily on the glitter and gossip–and not so much on the actual music–Billboard, being a reputable, long-standing presence in the music industry, will surely do the art of music justice. Wait…Paris Hilton is co-hosting? Good grief! Nevermind.
