The Decemberists to launch new board game

Rockers The Decemberists are preparing to cash in on their love of board games by creating one of their own.
The indie musicians have made it “a ritual” to play a few rounds of a quick game before shows, and they recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.com to bring their idea for a game called Illimat to life.
The online effort aimed to collect just under $43,000 (£33,800) for the project, but the goal was quickly surpassed and has since hit over $79,000 (£62,000) – with 30 days of fundraising still to go.
Illimat, a card game designed for between two and four players, was co-created by top game designer Keith Baker and the group’s illustrator Carson Ellis, and is based on a fake prop the band used in a 2009 photoshoot.
The product has been backed by Baker’s Twogether Studios and is described as an “old forgotten card game that would be compelling to modern players: a game that feels of its time, yet weirdly out of time altogether”.
Illimat is expected to be released next summer (17), and fans can reserve their copies by donating to the Kickstarter campaign.
