PATTISON STAYS TRUE TO TWILIGHT

Robert Pattinson knows where his bread is being buttered these days. The Twilight megahunk has dropped out of the indie film Parts Per Billion in order to play vampiric heartthrob Edward Cullen in New Moon (and the girls go “Ahhhhhh”), E! Online reports. Pattinson was supposed to have some hot and heavy love scenes with Juno actress Olivia Thirlby, but who wants that when we can continued to see him be painfully romantic and brooding as every girl’s vampire boyfriend dream?

KEIRA IS BOTH BEAUTIFUL AND DAMNED

Keira Knightley will be perfect as Zelda Sayre in a big-screen version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Beautiful and the Damned. The period drama is based on the tempestuous relationship between Fitzgerald and his mentally unstable (but I’m sure loads of fun) wife Zelda. It will be helmed by John Curran, whose credits include The Painted Veil and We Don’t Live Here Anymore. Fitzgerald is getting some love these days. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is based on one of his short storiesl and there is the recent news that Baz Luhrmann is aiming to turn The Great Gatsby into a new film. Against my advice.

Farrell plays a tough, tattooed Russian; Harris an American; Sturgess is a young Polish inmate; Ronan’s a Russian on the run who meets up with the fugitives.

DIVING MORE LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA

Finding out that Disney is remaking 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea got me excited. I so loved the 1954 original based on the Jules Verne novel and starring Kirk Douglas and a sinister James Mason as Captain Nemo. A remake might just be in order. Imagine what the giant squid would look like in this day and age. Of course, my hopes were then deflated when I heard who they got to helm this newest verison: McG. Seriously? The hack who directed Charlie’s Angels? Come on, Mouse House, you can do better than that.
