Multiplex theaters in Germany will account for 50 percent of all ticket sales this year versus 44 percent in 2000, according to German media analysts HypoVereinsbank Equity Research.
A study released on Monday and reported in Screen Daily, the online publication of Britain’s Screen International trade paper, also shows that, for the first time, the average German went to the movies at least twice during the year — up from 1.86 visits last year.
The study also showed that during the first nine months of this year, U.S. films accounted for 64.4 percent of the German market.
