‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ Leads Costume Designers Guild Awards Nominations

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Shape Of Water are continuing to rack up awards season nominations after landing Costume Designers Guild Awards nods.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’s Melissa Toth will compete against Get Out’s Nadine Haders, I, Tonya’s Jennifer Johnson, Kingsman: The Golden Circle’s Arianne Phillips, and Lady Bird’s April Napier in the Excellence in Contemporary Film category, while The Shape of Water’s Luis Sequeira will go up against Dunkirk’s Jeffrey Kurland, Murder on the Orient ExpressAlexandra Byrne, Phantom Thread’s Mark Bridges, and The Greatest Showman’s Ellen Mirojnick on the Excellence in Period Film shortlist.

Beauty and the Beast’s Jacqueline Durran, Blade Runner 2049’s Renee April, Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Michael Kaplan, Thor: Ragnarok’s Mayes C. Rubeo, and Wonder Woman’s Lindy Hemming are also up for nominations in Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film.

On the TV side, the costumers behind American Horror Story: Cult, Big Little Lies, Grace and Frankie, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Young Pope have earned nods in Excellence in Contemporary Television, while The Crown’s Jane Petrie and Feud: Bette and Joan’s Lou Eyrich will battle for the Excellence in Period Television award alongside designers for Glow, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Stranger Things.

Meanwhile Elton John and Marilyn Manson’s Tiny Dancer music video will go head to head with Katy Perry’s Chained to the Rhythm and Pink’s Beautiful Trauma promos in the Excellence in Short Form Design category.

The Costume Designers Guild Awards will take place on 20 February (18) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.
