Tom Hardy upsets Surrey neighbours with new chimney

Tom Hardy has upset his neighbours in Richmond, Surrey by erecting a chrome chimney on his roof.
The Dunkirk star’s addition to his home has sparked a string of complaints from locals, who believe he went ahead with the structure without getting the required planning permission from local officials.
Richmond councillors have reportedly received a string of moans about the new chimney, which one neighbour calls an “awful blot on the landscape”.
One complaint, obtained by the Mail Online, reads: “This is a truly awful blot on the landscape of what has otherwise been a successful renovation of a house in an important part of Richmond. The chimney is an aberration and does nothing to enhance the house nor the surrounding area.”
A spokesman for the Richmond Society tells the news outlet, “For an 18th Century building, in the very heart of the town, to suffer the tasteless indignity of this out of character, an out of scale chrome steel chimney is beyond belief.”
Reports suggest an initial application for a wood burning stove flue was refused by Richmond Council officials.
The actor has yet to comment on the drama.
