After finding the Ark of the Covenant, Sankara Stones and the Holy Grail, it took filmmakers nearly 20 years to come up with another adventure worthy of Indiana Jones; The Legend of the Crystal Skull
In hopes that Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg will add another to the franchise, we’ve come up with a cheat sheet to help filmmakers brainstorm a new adventure. Check out our top 10 legends Indiana Jones should find next.
10. Indiana Jones and Excalibur
In the film Excalibur, the famed King Arthur sword was last seen in the Lady of the Lake’s hands, sinking beneath the water to wait for another worthy king to claim it. Wouldn’t it just be the feather in Indy’s archeological cap to discover the sword in some underground water cave? Maybe stuck in a stone that only he can pull out?

9. Indiana Jones and the Loch Ness Monster
Since the first sightings of Nessie were reported around the 1930s, it fits in perfectly with Indy’s timeline. By the ’50s, where Crystal Skull has him now, there would be governments and militaries willing to pay big bucks to find the famed creature. Of course, Indy would probably find it, only to lose the fortune and glory when it escapes back into the wild to live free with Sasquatch.

8. Indiana Jones and King Solomon’s Mines
Allan Quartermain’s African quest preceded Indy in book and movie form, then tried to compete with him when Richard Chamberlain remade it in the ’80s. Heck, if even a librarian (Noah Wyle) can go after this one in the TNT mini-series, Dr. Jones certainly has the right to find the mythical diamond caves, too.

7. Indiana Jones and the Lost Island
Okay we are just throwing this one in here for giggles, but in a fantasy world, Charles Whidmore would hire Indy to find the island, only to watch the archeologist become embroiled with the Others, lead by Ben and Locke, who are desperate to keep the island hidden. Just think of the possibilities.

6. Indiana Jones and the Search for Atlantis
Indy’s adventures have taken him through jungles, deserts, mountains and caves. The only earthly terrain he hasn’t yet traversed is the sea, so searching for the famed underwater city would give him just such an opportunity. Imagine Indiana Jones scuba diving. How exciting!

5. Indiana Jones and the Book of the Dead
The Necronomicon has been the subject of many horror movies, but it’s no fun to see heroes torn apart by re-animated zombies, as in The Mummy. Okay, it is a little, but it would be more fun if Indy could find the real deal and make sure it stays out of the hands of the evil armies who would use it to create their own army of undead soldiers.

4. Indiana Jones and the Missing Link
Scientists and critics both lament the absence of that one evolutionary link that would connect ape to humans. Should such a link exist, the only one who could find it is Indiana Jones, hands down. Actually, the real threat to Indy would be the controversy between intelligent design and evolutionists that would chase him on both sides.

3. Indiana Jones and the Armor of Achilles
Greek and Roman mythology says that the great warrior Achilles was so indestructible because he had armor forged by the gods. If this is real, there are plenty of bad guys who would be after it to arm their military. Indy has to find it first, then maybe he’ll be indestructible too!

2. Indiana Jones and the Philosopher’s Stone
This artifact worked out pretty well for another hero: Harry Potter. It is actually not just in the first Harry Potter book, but the actual element sought after by alchemists for turning lead into gold. Let’s just say, they believed it existed. For the sake of a good old-fashioned Indiana Jones adventure, somebody sure would hire Indy to find it if it did.

1. Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth
This seems so obvious, how did no one else think of this? Sure, there was the healing power of the Holy Grail, but that’s not quite the Fountain of Youth, is it? There’s so much controversy over Harrison Ford returning to the role at his age, they should just send him off to drink from the Fountain of Youth. Then they could explain his cinematic energy in an unlimited number of sequels.
