A newly-unsealed document surrounding the investigation of illusionist Roy
Horn’s tiger attack has unearthed no conclusive reason for the big cat’s
The Siegfried & Roy star was dragged offstage by his neck by white tiger
Montecore during an infamous Las Vegas, Nevada, show in October, 2003 and has
been virtually paralyzed ever since.
Horn and his partner Siegfried Fischbacher have always insisted the tiger
reacted after the illusionist suffered a mild stroke onstage–and he tried to
drag his master to safety.
But U.S. Department of Agriculture investigators weren’t convinced and have
spent the past 18 months revisiting the incident.
The secret documents were unsealed June 28 under America’s
Freedom of Information Act and show that investigators are still mystified
about the tiger attack.
They have, however, ruled out two theories–that Montecore was provoked by
an audience member and that he hadn’t been fed properly before the show.
