Tracee Ellis Ross Teaches Men About Sexual Harassment with Children’s Book

Tracee Ellis Ross taught men what constitutes sexual harassment by reading from children’s book The Handsy Man on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday (05Dec17).

The Black-ish actress served as guest host on the nighttime talk show on Tuesday night, and took the opportunity to clear up any confusion men may have about what constitutes sexual harassment by reading from an illustrated book titled The Handsy Man.

She began by talking about the “countless women” who have come forward with stories of harassment or assault against the likes of Harvey Weinstein, James Toback and Kevin Spacey, and said men seemed to be surprised by these allegations.

“Treating another human being with respect isn’t complicated but it seems a bit confusing for a lot of men out there, so I wrote a book,” she continued. “It’s kind of like a children’s book for men that is going to make it really simple and bring it back to the basics.”

Tracee, 45, then brought out the big red book and read from it as the text and illustrations appeared on a screen besides her. The first passage reads, “There is a guy, with ten long fingers, creepy glares, and hugs that linger. If you’re a woman, you’re not a fan. I speak, of course, of The Handsy Man.

Handsy Man, based on the news, you seem to be a bit confused. Listen and I’ll explain to you, all the things you may not do.”

The next few verses covers what constitutes harassment, with Tracee reading, “You may not compliment my butt, You may not call me ‘ho’ or ‘slut’. And even if you’re stoned or drunk, do not expose me to your junk,” besides an illustration of a man exposing his privates.

She concluded, “So Handsy Man, if you’re still confused, whether your behavior will be excused, I’ll say it clearly, nice and slow. If she doesn’t consent – the answer is NO.”

Tracee, Chris Pratt, Neil Patrick Harris and Melissa McCarthy have stepped in to host the show this week while Jimmy looks after his son following a heart operation.
