Tracee Ellis Ross to host 2017 American Music Awards

Diana Ross’ appearance at this weekend’s American Music Awards will be a family affair as her actress daughter Tracee Ellis Ross has been unveiled as the event’s host.
The Black-ish star will serve as the emcee for the annual Los Angeles prizegiving, during which Diana will be feted for her artistry and stage a rare televised performance.
“I am thrilled to host this special night which honours some of the greatest musical talents in our industry,” said Tracee. “And I’m especially thrilled to host this year when my mother is receiving the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement.”
Bruno Mars leads all nominees heading into Sunday’s (19Nov17) show with eight nods, while Ed Sheeran, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and The Chainsmokers are all tied with five.
In addition to Ross, Christina Aguilera will sing a special tribute to Whitney Houston to mark the 25th anniversary of her film The Bodyguard, while Shawn Mendes, Nick Jonas, and Lady Gaga have been added to the onstage line-up.
Previously announced performers include Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, Demi Lovato, Pink, and Selena Gomez, who will make her big stage return following her summer kidney transplant surgery.
