Tuesday: ‘SportsCenter Year in Review’

[IMG:L]SportsCenter Year in Review — 9/8c on ESPN

It’s not often that anything sports related is worthy of the spotlight, but ESPN’s annual sports look back is up there.

And in fact, it’s as good an indicator as, say, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer that the holidays are imminent.

Plus, with most of the networks airing reruns tonight, it might mark the first time ever that SportsCenter is the best option for everyone.

For casual sports fans or anyone wanting to brush up on their sports-talk icebreakers and lingo, Year in Review is a helluva crash course; for the diehard fans, it’s what they already knew but might’ve forgotten, as revisited by their favorite show.

To be discussed are the usual upsets (Appalachian State beating Michigan) and championship runs (the Indianapolis Colts, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Red Sox, etc.), but the most time will no doubt be devoted to the two biggest controversies of ‘07, which are still very fresh in everyone’s mind: the Barry Bonds steroid scandal and the Michael Vick dogfighting case. (On Monday, Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison; if SportsCenter was able to update Year in Review with an entire segment on the Vick verdict at the last second, they are officially damn good!)

Sportscasters du jour Jay Harris and John Buccigross host.
