TV Ratings: This just in….

Score a victory for the networks’ cement-haired news anchors: eight of last week’s top 25 shows were news-magazine programs, five of which belonged to CBS.

The Eye Network’s 48 Hours specials and increased 60 Minutes timeslots continued to fare well, and two of NBC’s Dateline installments made the top 20 cut.

Clearly, when it comes to dealing with the summer rerun doldrums, it’s the news anchors that, well, anchor the networks in the top 25. Thanks to the ongoing Chandra Levy investigation, the networks latched on to sensationalism with white-knuckled intensity.
