TV shows halted as Sandy cyclone hits New York

Hurricane Sandy was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone on Monday evening, but it still caused enough havoc for variety shows in the Big Apple to call off filming on Monday, while nightly shows The Colbert Report, The Daily Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live! have been scrapped.

Los Angeles-based Kimmel, who is shooting a week of special shows in New York, says, “Due to stupid Hurricane Sandy and in the interest of the safety of our studio audience, Jimmy Kimmel Live! will not broadcast tonight from the Harvey Theatre at Brooklyn Academy of Music.”

Meanwhile, production on hit dramas The Good Wife, Person of Interest, Nurse Jackie, Smash, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, 666 Park Avenue, Elementary and Gossip Girl, comedy show 30 Rock and reality show Celebrity Apprentice was halted as the eye of the storm hits the Big Apple.
