Tyrese and Brandy team up for Mother’s Day gig

Tyrese and Brandy were among the performers at a special Mother’s Day gig in New York City.
The Fast & The Furious star took to the stage at the second annual SJ Presents Mother’s Day Good Music Festival at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Friday (12May17), alongside the Have You Ever hitmaker, Anthony Hamilton and Kem.
Brandy performed a medley of her hits, including I Wanna Be Down, Full Moon and Sittin’ Up In My Room, which drove the crowd wild, according to PageSix.com.
Rising star singer-songwriter Major took to the stage to perform his ballad Why I Love You, before handing out roses to women in the audience, while Grammy award-winning singer Hamilton was a huge success with the Brooklyn audience with hits Comin From Where I’m From, Cool and Amen.
Detroit native Kem took to the stage with a shout-out to all the mothers in the crowd, and revealed he was donating $10,000 (£7,750) to local charities.
The singer, who was once a homeless drug addict, said his mother gave birth to him when she was 17, and thanked God for supporting her and him, and passionately declared he wanted to give back as a result.
“God bless the mothers – we love you,” he yelled, after revealing he was giving $5,000 (£3,870) to the YMCA in Brooklyn and $5,000 to the organisation WIN (Women In Need), which supports homeless women and their children.
Tyrese, who was a Grammy-nominated artist before having success in the Fast & Furious movie franchise, then closed the four-hour show.
