The British gossip magazine Hello!, whose stock-in-trade is
displaying the interiors of celebrity homes, has been reprimanded by the
official Press Complaints Commission for publishing pictures of actress
Kate Winslet’s home that actually showed the possessions of the previous
owner.
In her complaint to the commission, the former owner, Lesley
Brain, had said that the photos suggested that she had sold personal
treasures, including a wedding gift, along with the house. The PCC held
that the photos were indeed misleading and violated its professional code
governing press accuracy.
