Vanessa Kirby tipped to slip into Catwoman suit for The Batman movie

Vanessa Kirby is rumoured to be in the running to play Catwoman in the upcoming The Batman movie.
Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves confirmed Robert Pattinson has been cast as the latest incarnation of Gotham’s caped crusader, replacing Ben Affleck after his portrayal of Bruce Wayne in the Justice League movies.
Not much is known about The Batman, but Mission Impossible: Fallout star Kirby has been reported to be a serious contender for the role of elusive cat burglar Selina Kyle, according to editors at Geeks Worldwide.
The 31-year-old British actress is best known for her portrayal of Princess Margaret in Netflix prestige drama The Crown, and will next be seen as Jason Statham’s sister in the upcoming Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
Should she land the role, Kirby will become the fifth actress to portray Catwoman on the big screen, after Lee Meriwether, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and Anne Hathaway.
Actresses Eartha Kitt and Julie Newmar famously portrayed the femme fatale in the classic TV series, while Camren Bicondova played a young Selina Kyle on Fox TV show Gotham for five years before handing over the role to Lili Simmons in April (19).
Meanwhile, Reeves has reportedly tapped frequent collaborator Andy Serkis to play the Penguin. The pair worked together on the Planet of the Apes rebooted trilogy, with Serkis playing protagonist Caesar.
The Batman will be released in June 2021.
