Vice President Joe Biden to introduce Lady Gaga at the Oscars

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will make a special appearance at the 2016 Academy Awards this weekend (28Feb16) to introduce Lady Gaga.
The Poker Face singer and songwriter Diane Warren scored a Best Original Song nomination for their track Til It Happens to You, which features in the documentary The Hunting Ground about sex attacks on U.S. college campuses, and Gaga will perform the tune at the Oscars prizegiving ceremony on Sunday (28Feb16).
Vice President Biden has been active in the It’s On Us campaign, which aims to raise awareness about sexual violence on college campuses, and he is also the author of the Violence Against Women Act.
As well as introducing Gaga to the stage, Biden will also direct viewers to the ItsOnUs.org website, and urge them to help raise awareness.
Last month (Jan16), the singer opened up about the significance of the nomination.
“This nomination lends a voice to victims & survivors all over the world,” she said. “Thank you to the Academy for recognising the movement of people who have come together for this film and song in the name of sexual assault. Myself and Diane are simply honoured to represent the voice of so many survivors.”
Gaga and Warren will compete against Sam Smith, who scored a Best Original Song nod for his track Writing’s on the Wall from the latest James Bond movie Spectre, The Weeknd, Antony Hegarty & J. Ralph, and David Lang & Sumi Jo at the 2016 Academy Awards.
