Vin Diesel Praises Charlize Theron’s Kissing Skills

Vin Diesel insists his Fate Of The Furious co-star Charlize Theron enjoyed their onscreen kiss as much as he did.

The star of the Fast and the Furious franchise spilled the details on his passionate onscreen smooch with Charlize, which helped the trailer achieve 139 million views in 24 hours upon its release last December (16) – a record only recently beaten by the trailer for the upcoming movie adaptation of Stephen King’s It.

Speaking ahead of the release of the highly anticipated eighth instalment of the franchise, which is directed by F. Gary Gray, the 49-year-old action star talked about filming the intimate moment with the Oscar-winning actress.

“I was definitely not complaining,” he told USA Today. “Gary shot that every which way but loose. … Charlize Theron is not a bad kissing partner to have. There are worse things that can happen to you.”

Diesel attributes the steamy kiss to helping the trailer, which debuted with a huge fan event in New York’s Times Square, connect with fans. And he shared that he felt the chemistry between the pair was evident, insisting that Charlize enjoyed filming the scene as much as he did.

“Do I know she enjoyed it? Oh, my God, yeah,” smiled Diesel. “A kiss cannot lie, lips don’t lie. No, they didn’t. She OWNED it.”

Charlize stars as high-tech terrorist Cipher, who seduces Diesel’s character Dom back into a world of crime he cannot seem to escape, causing him to betray those closest to him, including his onscreen wife Letty played by Michelle Rodriguez, who was forced to watch as the pair made out.

“The biggest moment in that trailer is the kiss between Cipher and Dom. How did we get to a place where that is the biggest moment in trailer history?,” mused the father of three. “The world knows our characters. Something like that becomes the tsunami of your movie.”

While not the most obvious onscreen pairing, Charlize, who won an Oscar in 2004 for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in movie Monster, said she felt “honored” to be asked to join the film’s cast.

“It’s a ginormous franchise and I was just stupidly honoured that they even asked me to be a part of it,” the 41-year-old explained previously to the Daily Express.

The Fate of the Furious (Fast 8) begins hitting theaters from 14 April (17).
