At a time of increasing competition for major “gets” among the network
news shows, Barbara Walters has landed an interview with President and Mrs. Bush that will air on ABC’s 20/20 next Wednesday night.
The
interview, to be taped at the White House, will be the president’s first
sit-down chat with a network interviewer since the Sept. 11 attacks.
Andrew Tyndall, who monitors the networks’ evening news programming,
told today’s New York Daily News, “It’s a big deal. …
This just shows that ABC’s primetime newsmagazines continue to get the
best ‘gets.'”
