Wednesday: ‘American Idol’

[IMG:L]American Idol — 7:30/6:30c on Fox

This week, American Idol might set charity records AND ratings records!

The show is guaranteed to sit atop TV’s ratings each week for its two airings, but three shows in a week is almost unfair to the rest of television.

Not to mention the fact that tonight’s “Idol Gives Back” special is a two and a half hour celeb-a-thon.

“Idol Gives Back,” which was taped on Sunday, isn’t just any ol’ fundraiser: It attracts the world’s biggest celebs.

That, coupled with Idol’s regular viewership prowess, equals an absurd amount of viewers, which, in turn, equals an absurd–in a good way–amount of money raised.

The hard-to-believe guest list isn’t unlike some Oscars/MTV awards hybrid show: Brad Pitt, Miley Cyrus, Reese Witherspoon, Mariah Carey, Bono, Fergie, Eli and Peyton Manning, Billy Crystal and former Idol contestants Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood are literally just some of the A-listers who show up!
